Safety is important to us.
Before driving any company vehicle the operator is responsible for making sure it is in safe operating condition. The following pre-operation safety check should help you take the first step in protection.
- Check tires for proper inflation and road worthy condition.
- Check that brakes, light, horn, wipers, directional signals and rear view mirrors are operating properly.
- Make sure safety equipment (seat belts, fire extinguisher, etc.) is present in the vehicle.
Defensive driving
A good driver practices defensive driving as a key to accident-free, safe vehicle operation. Defensive drivers avoid accidents by:
- Driving at speeds that allow sufficient stopping time.
- Signaling well in advance of turning, changing lanes or stopping. Give yourself time to plan traffic maneuvers in advance to avoid hasty actions.
- Not passing any vehicle(s) at intersections, railroad crossings or where vision is limited or obstructed.
