Most rental properties are insured, but this doesn't apply to your possessions. Unigard's rental policy protects your furnishings, clothing and other personal property and includes several key coverages.
Personal Property: Your personal property is covered from the following causes of loss, subject to some restrictions:
- Fire or lightning
- Windstorm or hail
- Explosion
- Riot or civil commotion
- Damage caused by aircraft
- Damage caused by vehicles
- Smoke
- Vandalism or malicious mischief
- Theft
- Falling objects
- Weight of ice, snow or sleet
- Water escape from a plumbing, heating, or air conditioning system
- Collapse
- Freezing
- Discharge from an artificially generated electrical current
- Volcanic action
Loss of Use: If your residence becomes uninhabitable because of a covered loss, any increased expenses you incur in order to maintain your normal standard of living will be covered.
Personal Liability: You and family members who reside in your household are protected for bodily injury and property damage to others caused by a covered accident for which you are liable. This coverage also includes defense costs.
Medical Payments to Others: If a visitor to your home is injured in an accident, you are covered for the necessary medical expenses incurred because of bodily injury, without regard to liability.
