FAQs

Return to QBEpay home

What do I need to begin?

You will need to know your eight-character personal policy number or account number and the five-digit ZIP code listed on your policy.

How can I make my premium payment?

You may pay by:

  • Credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover)
  • Debit card (with Visa or Mastercard logo)
  • ATM card with STAR, NYCE, PULSE logos:

  • Funds transfer using your checking, savings or money market account

Is there a charge for this service?

No. Unigard doesn’t charge any additional fees for making payments using the online payment service. You may be subject to billing service fees.

Will my payment account information be saved for future use?

No. For your privacy and the protection of your banking data, we do not save your account information.

Will I receive confirmation that the payment I submitted has been received?

If an e-mail address is provided, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. If no e-mail is provided, you may receive a confirmation letter via U.S. mail.

When will my payment be credited to my account?

Payments are considered received the day/time the payment is made online. If the payment is made prior to 8 p.m. PST, it will be reflected on your payment history the next business day. Any payment made after 8 p.m. PST will be shown on your payment history after the second business day.

Can I make a payment on a canceled or lapsed policy?

No. If your policy is lapsed or canceled, you will not be able to use QBEpay. You must contact your agent at the number listed on your billing. We will not be able to accept a payment after 8 p.m. PST on the day before the cancellation date listed on your billing notice.

Can I get a credit or refund to my credit card or bank account using the online payment service?

No. Please contact your agent if your policy and/or account has a credit balance. All credit balances will be refunded by check. We cannot make refunds to your credit card or bank account.

How secure is my transaction?

The online payment service uses the following security features:

  • SSL: We use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), which ensures your connection and information are secure.
  • Encryption: We strictly enforce 128-bit encryption security levels for users accessing this service. All users accessing this service must ensure that their Web browsers are set to enable 128-bit encryption.
  • Automatic sign out: We automatically sign you out after 20 minutes of inactivity.

How do I know when a secure session has been created?

Most supported browsers will provide a message box stating when you're entering a secure session. Internet Explorer uses a small padlock icon on the bottom right side of the browser window. When there is a secure session in place, the padlock will appear locked. Mozilla Firefox uses a similar padlock icon on the bottom right side of the browser window, but it only appears when browsing a secure site. Another indication that your browser is operating in a secure mode is in the Web site address. The address will begin with "http:" in a standard, non-secure mode and with "https:" in a secure mode, with the "s" standing for "secure."

Why are only some browser versions supported?

To help ensure that your confidential financial information is protected in transit, we encrypt all messages between your browser and the payment service. Some browser versions don't support the needed levels of encryption.

What can I do to help secure my transaction with Unigard when using the online feature?

As explained in the Terms and Conditions, you are responsible for not sharing your bank account information, bank routing information or Unigard account information. Furthermore, you need to make sure you're using an appropriate browser. Also, be sure to close your browser immediately after you complete your payment transaction.

Can I make a payment for less than the billed amount?

No. Your payment must be equal to or greater than the minimum billed amount.

Can I make a payment for more than the policy balance?

No. Your payment cannot total more than the policy balance.

Can I pay my commercial lines policy?

No. We are only accepting personal lines payments at this time.

Can I set up a recurring payment plan?

Not through QBEpay. If you would like your payments deducted from your checking or savings account on a monthly basis, you will be interested in our Checksaver plan.
